Utah Slides in College Grad Rankings

(KCPW News) For years, Utah's college graduation rates were some of the highest in the nation. But a report from the Utah Foundation shows the nation is catching up. Executive Director Steve Kroes says that has put the Beehive State's competitive advantage at risk."We could lose the edge we have when we tell people Utah has a young, highly educated, productive workforce," laments Kroes.
In particular, he says fewer Utah women are graduating from college. The state's growing immigrant community may also be affecting graduation rates. Rising costs of education and declining financial aid may also be part of the problem.
Twenty-six percent of Utahns 25 and older have a bachelor's degree or higher.
