Mayor Secures Promise From Developer
(KCPW News) The Meadows is a Cottonwood Heights trailer park that is facing redevelopment, and residents, subsequently, are facing eviction -- they just don't know when. Thirty days, 90 days, the residents have heard it all, but Cottonwood Heights Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore says he has personally secured a promise from Meadows buyer, Arbor Development, to hold off on evictions until early next year."At this point if this developer closes," Cullimore claims, "their commitment is that they would not begin their construction work on their new plans probably until April."
Cullimore says he trusts the developer, but says he'll put the might of the city into a proper response should Arbor Development move more quickly to evict.
Despite this reprieve, residents who have spoken to KCPW say they worry about where they'll end up as many of them are elderly and live on fixed incomes. Cullimore says Cottonwood Heights is working with community groups to ensure no Meadows resident ends up homeless.
