Election Analysis: Summit County Determines Victory in House District 25

(KCPW News) In the final analysis, it was Summit County that handed House Democratic Candidate Christine Johnson her victory over fellow Democrat Josh Ewing during the recent primary election. While Johnson and Ewing were within 35 votes in the Salt Lake County portion of their district, Johnson tripled Ewing's votes in Summit County."I think in large part it was because Christine ran a very grassroots campaign, doing honk and waves and get-out-the-vote-work," says Summit County Democratic Officer Laura Bonham.
Summit County falls into two legislative districts - West of I-80 and North of Highway 40 are in District 25. The rest of the county is part of House District 53, for which Bonham is a candidate. She suggests Johnson's platform was tailored to resonate with the politics of Summit County voters:
"Those Snyderville Basin voters, I believe, are very focused on controlling growth, having open space and healthy environments for children to be playing in," says Bonham. "Christine reached them."
Christine Johnson will face Republican Kenneth Grover in November's General Election.
