UDOT Creates Website to Handle Inquiries
(KCPW News) Next week, construction crews will begin painting double white lines the length of the carpool lane on I-15 in Salt Lake and Utah Counties. It's preparation for the start of the new "Express Lane" for which solo commuters will be able to purchase a monthly pass for access. UDOT spokesman Nile Easton says interest in the project is intense. He expects all 600 passes to sell out shortly after they go on sale August 10th at 8 a.m. on the project's new website: www.expresslanes.utah.gov.
The site also features a map of approved entry and exit points in the Express Lane. Once the striping is complete next week, Easton says drivers will only be able to access the carpool lane at certain spots, and enforcement will be strict. Fines for illegally entering or driving in the carpool lane are upwards of $100.
