Next Utah Trade Mission Leaves November Fifth
(KCPW News) Ambitious businesses are wanted to test out the international market at this year's Utah trade mission to Mexico. Many Utahns were successful at the trade mission earlier this year, and the same is expected this time, says Miguel Rovira of the Governor's Office of Economic Development."On the last trade mission you had ten companies go down to Mexico. Seven of those companies, within a sixty-day period, already had purchase orders or were shipping product into Mexico," says Rivira.
Trade between Mexico and Utah firms already totals $120 million annually, and Governor Huntsman wants to keep the money rolling in with another trade mission in November. Rovira says this Fall's trade mission will focus on three particular areas.
"We will have three pillars there: education, trade and cultural pillars. We will have meetings to foster those relationships between Mexico and the State of Utah. In addition to that we will incorporate tourism into the equation," says Rovira. "We will also be bringing companies down for matchmaking meetings, and we are in the process of recruiting those companies for the trade mission. We have about twelve spots open and we already have five of those filled."
