(KCPW News) Salt Lake County and the State of Utah made a $58 million investment to expand the Salt Palace Convention Center in response to pressure from the state's largest trade show customer Outdoor Retailer. In response, the convention has promised to hold its summer and winter markets in Utah through 2010.

As the exhibit portion of the trade show started today, Governor Huntsman praised the economic impact of the show - an estimated $20 million in direct spending to the local economy.

This is 10th year the Outdoor Retailer trade show has come to Utah, featuring clothing, gear and gadgets from nearly 1,000 exhibitors.
