Businesses Prep for Pandemic Flu

(KCPW News) Utah businesses with emergency plans in place for the next earthquake are managing to translate that readiness to pandemic flu preparations. Salt Lake Valley Health Department Executive Director Gary Edwards met with about 70 businesses yesterday and found many ready for a serious flu outbreak.

He says the first thing a business needs to do in preparing for a pandemic is identify its emergency response structure - Who is in charge? Who will direct various response activities?

The State Division of Homeland Security has developed checklists for businesses and other groups to use in preparation. Another preparedness summit for Salt Lake Valley businesses will take place next quarter.
