Poll: Corroon's Popularity Up Despite Voter Disapproval of Stadium
(KCPW News) Real Salt Lake has yet to agree to the funding framework proposed more than a week ago by Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon. The mayor says lawyers are still working out the details of the contract, and he will sit down with Real this week to continue negotiations. As for his lengthy list of demands for the team -- which includes more than 27 million dollars in cash and in kind donations to the community - Corroon insists he will not waver on those requests.
A survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling on behalf of the Salt Lake Tribune finds the majority of Salt Lake County voters are against the plan to spend more than 50-million taxpayer dollars on a soccer stadium in Sandy. Ironically, that same survey finds Corroon gaining in popularity. Corroon figures that's because voters understand that even when he makes unpopular decisions he quote "keeps the citizens in mind."
