Welcome Rally to Rival Protestors

(KCPW News) Salt Lake County Republican Party Chair James Evans has planned a full slate of speakers, including numerous Republican politicians, for a rally to welcome President Bush to Utah this evening.

"We want to make sure the President knows he's welcome in the state of Utah. We did not want the President to be greeted, and Utah be defined once again by Mayor Anderson," says Evans.

The welcome rally runs from 5:30 til 8 at the City and County building - the same location where an anti-Bush rally featuring Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson, will take place earlier in the day. Air Force One is scheduled to touch down at the National Guard base at 9 p.m., and Evans says the White House made a rare move in opening the event to the public.

Limited tickets to the President's arrival are still available to the public from Utah Congressional offices.

KCPW will broadcast the President's speech at the American Legion Convention live tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
