Sutherland Institute President Makes Suggestion

(KCPW News) Paul Mero, president of The Sutherland Institute, doesn't agree with Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson's anti-Bush sentiments, but he likes the man's passion. In fact, Mero suggests Anderson resign his post and follow that passion.

"What you ought to do is resign right now, and you ought to go on a national tour and move to impeach President Bush," Mero suggests. "If he is this immoral, if he is the kind of murderer that you're implying that he is, then what are you doing here?"

Mero caught Anderson off guard when he made those comments on today's edition of Midday Metro, which was hosted by the mayor. Anderson replied that it is his position as mayor that enabled local voices of those opposed to the war in Iraq to be heard when President Bush visited Utah for the recent American Legion convention:

Anderson: "I think we were able to leverage a lot out of this [Bush protest], just check the emails we've received, the national blogs, the articles that have been generated - people are paying attention to what's happening here in Utah because everybody knows this is the reddest state in the country ..."

Mero: "... because you're a liberal Democrat mayor, who is mayor of the largest city, Salt Lake ...

Anderson: "... and there were several thousands of people who came out because of their passionate opposition."

Anderson, you tell em. I think right now to be called liberal is a compliment, a conservative=war monger. I wouldn't be to proud to be called conservative.

I wish every last corner of our country can hear your words. I would have added that though c.rice had a message suggesting planes might be used as weapons, after 9/11 she said who could imagine such and idea.

I don't like Rocky much at all and REALLY didn't like that he protested, but Mero is even worse and is again, reaffirming his existence as a reincarnated horse's rear end.
