Governor to Testify in Support of 4th Seat for Utah
(KCPW News) Governor Jon Huntsman will be in the nation's capitol this Thursday to testify in support of a fourth congressional seat for Utah. Huntsman was invited by Wisconsin Congressman James Sensenbrenner to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. Governor's spokesperson Lisa Roskelley says Huntsman was happy to oblige."He just wants to make sure that it's understood that this is good legislation, it corrects injustices that have been made and is something obviously that Utah supports," says Roskelley.
The legislative hearing on Thursday afternoon will consider the "District of Columbia Fair and Equal House Voting Rights Act of 2006" - a proposal to give an additional House seat to Utah, balancing out the impact of creating a seat for Washington D.C. Utah Congressman Chris Cannon is a member of the judiciary committee for which Huntsman will testify.
