Redistricting Could Be Likely in Utah
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) A bill that would give Utah a fourth seat in Congress could mean another election for Utah's delegation - just months after the November race. Congressman Chris Cannon says support for making the fourth seat "at-large" - which means it would represent the entire state - is waning.House Judiciary Committee Chair James Sensebrenner is planning an amendment that would require district boundaries be re-drawn for all of Utah's representatives. Cannon says he'd prefer the seat be "at large," but will suffer the election for the sake of getting more representation for Utah in Washington.
Sensenbrenner is expected to introduce his amendment next week, which means Utah lawmakers could be embroiled in re-districting debate as early as Christmas.
