RSL Under Scrutiny At County
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) The financial workings of Real Salt Lake are under the microscope now. Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon has asked the county's Debt Review Committee to take a close look at the soccer team's financial viability and the stadium proposal that requires 55-million dollars in public subsidies.County Chief Administrative Officer Doug Willmore says despite more than a year of soccer stadium debate, this is the first time the Debt Review Committee has looked at the team. Real team officials were livid when earlier this year some of their financial documents were leaked to the media. Willmore says they've now committed to cooperate with the debt review, even if it opens their finances up to public scrutiny.
The result will determine the grade the committee gives Real Salt Lake and the stadium proposal. The County Mayor has asked the committee to try and complete the review within 30 days.
