FrontRunner Ahead of Schedule

New Cars to Feature Outlets and WiFi

(KCPW News) Good news for Davis County commuters:

"We're ahead of schedule, as usual," says Utah Transit Authority General Manager John Inglish.

The commuter rail from Salt Lake City to Weber County will be open for business by the middle of 2008. Conservative estimates put opening day ridership at six-thousand people. The new double-decker cars will feature electrical outlets and wireless internet connection for so people can work on their commute.

"What a fantastic feeling," says Sierra Club Director Mark Heileson who toured one of the new railcars. "You sit up high on that second floor and I can't wait to see the wetlands of the Great Salt Lake fly by at 80 miles an hour."

The Sierra Club fought to fast-track commuter rail in tandem with the new Legacy Parkway. In November, voters in both Utah and Salt Lake Counties will have the chance to approve sales tax hikes to extend commuter rail down to Provo.

WOW! The idea of outlets and WiFi on the trains? Someone was really thinking. This is going to be yet another great asset for the area.
