West Jordan Dog Park Debate Back at SL County Council
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) For months, Salt Lake County and West Jordan city officials have been growling at each other over plans for a dog park. County Councilman Joe Hatch says it's ironic, since the mess all started with what the county council thought was a generous offer:"I'm afraid we've gotten into a lose-lose situation where we're not getting the kind of dog park we thought we would get from the money, and the elected officials of West Jordan don't think we're satisfying our moral obligation to them with regard to a park," says Hatch.
The County Council has agreed to give West Jordan 400-thousand dollars for a park at 60th West and 7800 South. But the council is also asking West Jordan officials to spend more than half of that on amenities for an off-leash dog area in the park. To this point, city officials have been unhappy with those stipulations. Today Hatch has scheduled a full hour on the County Council's agenda for all parties to meet and work out the disagreement.
