White Flags Symbolize Domestic Violence Victims

(KCPW News) To mark the YWCA's annual "Week Without Violence," three and a half thousand white flags fill the front lawn of the City and County Building."Every single flag is either a woman, a child or a man who had to leave their home because of domestic violence," says Kimberly Barnett of the YWCA.
Barnett says the "Week Without Violence" is intended to raise awareness about the continued problem of domestic violence, and the need for more resources to offer shelter.
Last year, the YWCA alone turned away nearly 500 women and children from its shelter last year for lack of space. Information on the week's events is online at www.ywca.com.
