Provo a Close Third

(KCPW News) Provo and West Valley City are neck and neck for the honor of Utah's second largest city, based on the latest U.S. Census population estimates. When Provo challenged it's official estimate, West Valley did too. This week West Valley got word from the feds that it is the number two city in Utah:

"It's really two or three thousand people that separate West Valley City from Provo," says West Valley City PR director Aaron Crim.

City officials decided to challenge the census estimate to help secure more federal funding and have accurate figures for transportation and growth plans. The new population estimate for the West Valley City is 118,917. The largest city in Utah, of course, is its capital - Salt Lake City.
