Driver Licenses Get a Makeover
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) Utah driver licenses are getting a makeover - again."We try to do it about every five years to keep ahead of the counterfeiters," says Utah Driver License Bureau Chief Wallace Wintle.
The new cards use the latest in printing and security technologies to prevent fraud. Driver photos will now be placed on a background of intricate lines resembling fingerprints. The colors are also selected to be difficult to replicate.
Driver licenses and official ID cards for minors will be a different color and have a vertical orientation. Driving privilege cards for undocumented workers will be similar to regular licenses, but have a large red "P" for privilege. Wintle says the new licenses should hit the street in early November.
