Buhler to Join Race for SLC Mayor

CORRECTION: This story previously reported Councilwoman Jill Remington Love as running for SLC Mayor.  The correct Councilwoman is Nancy Saxton

(KCPW News) With mid-term elections behind us, local politicians are turning to Salt Lake City's next big race - for mayor in 2007. Two-term City Councilman Dave Buhler intends to announce his candidacy on Thursday:

"I've been trying to see if I have the kind of support that I think would be necessary to make a really good run at the mayor's office," says Buhler. "I've been encouraged by the support I'm receiving and ready to make an announcement on Thursday."

Buhler's interest in the race has been rumored for months. He joins City Councilwoman Nancy Saxton, former City Councilman Keith Christensen and County Councilwoman Jenny Wilson as official candidates for Mayor Rocky Anderson's seat.

Buhler is no strange to open races with numerous candidates: his first attempt at public office was the open mayor's seat in 1991 when he ultimately lost to Mayor Dee Dee Corradini.
