Perfect Result for Election Audit

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) Auditors uncovered not a single discrepancy between the paper trail and the electronic tally of votes on machines tested in Salt Lake County. Clerk Sherrie Swensen says the whole process took less time than expected and she's not surprised at all with the perfect result. So was it worth it?

"I think it's very useful, not only for us but for the public and the assurance the public receives in having that comparison between the paper and the memory card," says Swensen.

Salt Lake County tested 30 of the 75 machines randomly selected from around the state for the election audit. The effort was closely watched by a slew of attorneys for political parties and candidates in tight races. If any of those races goes to a recount, additional audits will be necessary.
