540 Spanish-speaking Children in State Custody
(KCPW News) To help meet the needs of the more than 540 Spanish-speaking Utah children in foster care, the Utah Foster Care Foundation is tailoring its training to attract Hispanic/Latino foster families.Foundation spokeswoman Deborah Lindner says the training will be offered in Spanish. She says the Spanish instruction is preferred even by bilingual families and notes that the training will also touch on some cultural issues.
"Children function best in families that can preserve their cultural identity," Lindner said.
The Spanish-language training will begin in January. An information night will be held Wednesday, December 13th at the foundation's office, 5296 Commerce Drive, Suite 400, in Murray. For details call 877-505-KIDS.
