(KCPW News) Real Salt Lake has signed pro-soccer phenom Freddy Adu for the next season. The deal came through on the same day the team released every detail of its finances in hopes of getting Salt Lake County support for a publicly-funded stadium.Real CEO Dean Howes says the Adu deal is further proof of the team's viability and will hopefully help the team achieve its aggressive ticket sales goals. When the stadium is finished in the summer of 2008, ReAL needs to be selling an average of 15-thousand tickets per game - that's up from six-thousand tickets on average this season. Ticket prices are also set to increase by at least a dollar a year for the next decade.
According to the team's financials, Real Salt Lake will only turn a profit once the stadium is complete. The deal will require 45-million taxpayer dollars from Sandy City and Salt Lake County - approximately 41-percent of the total stadium cost.
