Roads and Transit Funding Back on Track

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) Local officials in Salt Lake County are now free move forward deciding which road and transit projects will get funding priority with the voter- approved quarter cent sales tax.

Ironically, Draper Mayor Darrell Smith says that job pales in comparison to the challenge of getting state lawmakers to approve the prioritization process.

After much delay, lawmakers have finally approved the process, though not without making changes to the proposal. They are now asking the Salt Lake County of Governments to give cost effectiveness and congestion relief equal consideration when ranking the projects.

On the preliminary list of priorities, Smith says TRAX extensions and commuter rail are first in line for funding.
