Utah Job Numbers in a Rut

None by KCPW

Slowdown Inevitable

(KCPW News) Utah is "stuck in a rut" when it comes to jobs and employment growth, says State Economist Mark Knold. Month after month, the Beehive State has seen job growth outpace the national average several fold.

Couple that with a very low unemployment rate and Knold says Utah's economy is bound to slow down soon. Employers will become increasingly frustrated with the lack of qualified workers to fill their positions - and eventually Knold expects they will ultimately stop creating those new jobs.

New home construction and the LDS Church City Creek Center Development are fueling jobs in the construction industry - which continues to lead the growth curve. Southern Utah and the Uintah Basin saw the highest job growth rates in November.
