(KCPW News) Utah's low unemployment rate, as well as stereotypical perceptions of its community, could keep businesses from locating in the state. According to a study released today by The Real Estate Professionals for Economic Growth, Utah's strong workforce has long been a calling card for recruiting new business however that has been negated by an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent.Jeff Edwards, CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah, says there are ways to keep businesses coming to Utah. Convincing companies to bring their employees with them is one way. Another is to educate the 100 thousand secondary school students expected to join the workforce in the next ten years about jobs that are currently available.
The study reveals that perceptions of Utah's conservative lifestyle still exist outside the state, but that those stereotypes can be overcome by convincing business leaders to visiting the state.
