Lawmakers Kill Child Welfare Bill

(KCPW News) A bill concerning child welfare was killed this morning due to doubtful members of the House Health and Human Services Committee, including Republican Representative Michael Morley:"You know, I'm still really torn on this bill. I think there are some really good elements in here. I think there's some security for children who are at risk or abused. I like some things in here, and I guess it's my point of just hating being told by people who don't have the best knowledge as to what is best for the children in the state of Utah."
The bill, which was sponsored by Republican Representative Merlynn Newbold, required a background check from every state in which a prospective foster or adoptive parent has resided during the past five years. Even though the bill complied with federal requirements for child welfare, some committee members predicted there would be conflict between the state and federal governments.

So the potential to prevent the molestation, rape, and deaths of children in foster care, many of whom should not be there, is squashed because Morley does not want anyone telling him what to do with children in Utah. Here's my advice ... if Morley has children, place them in "the system" and lets see if his attitude changes and how quickly it changes!

Does Morely think that we biological parents want government agent goons telling US how to raise our children? Who could possibly be against a foster care person having to pass a background check? You mean right now they DON'T? Unbelievable! Worse, that is CRIMINAL!

Very well, but who is going to do the check on those who check the backrounds of the future foster parents? The possibility of fraud and mistakes, misrepresantations etc. are endless, especially with 700 thous. of children in the current system! We allready have ,,preapproved ,, foster parents, whos past and present is layed out in front of anyone, the parents history is in the eyes and beheviour of their children open for those who can see and not blindly judge, its simply the kids moms and dads,God blessed them and system should help them,if thats whats needed and requested. To save few the system is destroying multitudes, like an elephant in a china shop.
