Conservative Groups Block Cancer Vaccination Plan

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) Conservative groups rallied their troops yesterday to stop an effort that would have made cervical cancer prevention more readily available to Utah girls. The FDA recommends that girls between 11 and 24 years old be vaccinated for a sexually-transmitted virus which causes cervical cancer. But Gayle Ruzicka of the Utah Eagle Forum opposes even educating girls about the vaccine:

"There's already television commercials dealing with this," says Ruzicka. "And if it does target girls, what will it tell them? Is it going to talk about abstinence before marriage and fidelity after?"

Lawmakers on a health committee received hundreds of emails opposing a measure that would put one-million dollars a year toward efforts to educate Utah women about the new vaccine for human papilloma virus which is proven to prevent cervical cancer. Representative Karen Morgan hoped her colleagues would see the vaccine as a cure for cancer, rather than a moral issue:

"Why wouldn't we want to make the women of this state aware of the risks of cervical cancer, the cause of cervical cancer?" says Morgan. "Why wouldn't we want to do that to help save the lives of Utah women?"

Morgan's measure would also have covered the vaccine for so-called underinsured Utah girls who don't qualify for Medicaid but can't afford private insurance. The committee denied both requests, saying that it's up to parents to educate their daughters and pay for the vaccine if they want it.

The HPV Vaccination is NOT a CURE for cancer. Your article grossly misrepresents what the vaccination will actually accomplish. Shame on you.

You people are idiots. You alienate independent voters every day with such misguided, ignorant stands on something as basic as public health. You are going to lose lose lose in the next election.Thank God.

I think that this vaccine gives girls a false sense of security. The best way to prevent this from happening is to stay away from sex and just wait until marriage! And I do think it should be up to the parents to educate their kids, not the government! Heaven knows parents need to be more involved in their kid's life anyway! >_<

The HPV vaccine shouldn’t be mandatory for young women. Since this virus is only spread through sexual contact, unvaccinated girls don’t pose a health risk to others. Had this vaccine been available when my daughter was in that age group I would have ensured that she was vaccinated. Whether it promotes sexual promiscuity or not is a specious argument. It’s like arguing that having your child’s teeth fluoride varnished would be promoting their adopting an unhealthy diet. Kids are kids and they can be counted on to make mistakes. I feel sorry for those parents, who refusing this vaccination, may be faced with telling their young daughters that the penalty for their youthful indiscretion is an early death.

Hey Ann, I need your help. I don’t want to shoot my mouth off without having any valid information to back up my opinion and sound like an uninformed fool. So how can I spin the fact that the National Vaccine Information Center said that 17,221 adverse reactions were reported to the Food and Drug Administrations for a 20 Month period ending in July of 1992? 20/20 reported on January 26, 1990 that the FDA admits that fewer than 10% of the doctors report adverse reactions to vaccines. In conjunction, as of September 1992, The Federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has paid out $249 million dollars for children who have been injured or died due to the shots with over 4000 cases backlogged.

Some studies have shown that getting the vaccination may make it more likely to get the illness. Reports from the Center for Disease Control stated that Polio has been contracted from batches approved by the Federal Government and distributed to the public.

Then you have a growing segment with the child welfare authorities pushing for parents who do not get their children vaccinated to be charged with child abuse and neglect. There have already been judges who have ruled parents guilty of abuse. Don’t you just love the freedoms of Americas!

I don’t think we should mention that the doctor/patient privilege would be a thing of the past. Doctors would be made to snitch to federal authorities so parents could be prosecuted. How could those moronic conservatives be so heartless, thank God for liberalism.

The Clinton’s wanted to mandate every child at birth have a card with a micro chip and tracked that the child is medicated according to State wishes and have access to this information without parent or individual approval.

God I’m so glad we’re finally coming around to the Marxist theology… freedom and liberty put so much responsibility and burden on the people. I can’t wait until we just get up in the morning, go to work, the government gives us an allowance and keeps the remainder of our pay for taking care of us. Just think Ann, we might be able to work for a company that supplies the vaccine the government or UN mandates has to be given to every child in the world! Oh, it just gives me goose bumps thinking about it.

I sure hope Hilary gets to be president so she can impliment her plan where every newborn has to be given the Hepatitas B vaccine within 12 hours even though the publication Medical World News said the vaccine was not safe and could carry the AIDs virus.

Ann, we have to find a way to suppress the fact that 2/3’s of the doctors refused to take the vaccine themselves according to Dr. Robert Mendleson, a vaccine researcher.

How can we hide the fact that the hepatitis b vaccine is dangerous but because of the homosexual community lobbing the Clinton administration that it is the civic duty of every American to take this drug so the homosexual community benefits because hepatitis b virus affects mostly prostitutes, intravenous drug users, and homosexuals. But we can’t really put it this way because the truth is politically incorrect. This policy is called externality and is where a entity pushes off as much of it’s costs onto someone else. Corporations do this all the time.

It’s a great plan don’t you think? The drug manufacturers need mass distribution to guarantee profits so the Federal Government forces all newborns to be vaccinated so they can recoup their costs, the government can also take another right taken away from the parents, and have Joe/Ann American pay for it. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together!

So keep up the rhetoric Mary but when you find some facts and valid justification for our position please let me know.

Viva la libereralism Richard

Come on Ann, the problem with "independent" voters is they have no core values at all. They believe just about anything the media tells them. Use your brain and think for yourself.

The hypocricy of the pro life lobby shows no bounds, they insist that if we have abortions we will end up with breast cancer, while they oppose a vaccine that would protect girls from cervical cancer.

They obviously believe that it is better for women to die rather than have sex before marriage - they are no different from Muslims fanatics who advocate honour killings!
