UPDATE: Senate Passes Stadium Vote
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) With a final vote of 20 to 8, State Senators have passed a funding plan for the soccer stadium in Sandy, dedicating 35 million tourism tax dollars to the stadium. This comes after Governor Jon Huntsman Junior issued a final urgent plea to pass the measure. Huntsman said the stadium will quote "enhance our quality of life, especially for the hundreds of thousands of Utah youth who play soccer."The House now has to concur with the Senate vote. Governor Huntsman says the approval must happen by Friday to prevent ReAL Salt Lake owners from selling the team. The Salt Lake Tribune reported this morning that team owner Dave Checketts was flying to St. Louis today to meet with a group hoping to purchase the team and move them to the Midwest.
