(KCPW News) ReAL Salt Lake owner Dave Checketts says the team's stakeholders voted unanimously today to stay in Utah and build their stadium in Sandy."What an incredible journey this has been. . .as we say once and for all that ReAL Salt Lake is a permanent part of this Utah community," says Checketts.
Flanked by RSL players, Checketts and his wife Deb made the announcement on the plaza of the State Capitol. He then presented team jerseys to the Governor, Senate President, Speaker of the House and Mayors of Sandy and Salt Lake City, calling them quote "super friends" during his turbulent quest for a stadium.
Noticeably absent was Salt Lake County Peter Mayor Corroon who said in a statement that he stands by his decision to reject the stadium offer, but hopes it will prove quote "beneficial and fiscally sound for everyone involved."
