Tensions Thawing Between Sandy and SL County?

(KCPW News) Tension appears to be thawing between officials of Sandy City and Salt Lake County, now that the stadium is a done deal. Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan is a main proponent of a bill to wrestle control of restaurant taxes away from Salt Lake County. He and other city mayors will meet on Monday to negotiate with the County:"This is the first time that Salt Lake County has approached we mayors and said that they'd like to sit down and discuss it with us," says Dolan. "So sure, we're willing to talk about it."
Dolan says he's open to resolving the conflict without legislation. County Mayor Peter Corroon says the bill would devastate the county's parks and recreation programs which rely on the taxes. During a hearing on Senate Bill 64, Corroon offered to create an advisory council of mayors to help decide how the restaurant taxes are spent. Dolan says that may not be enough to satisfy him. The bill is on hold pending the outcome of Monday's meeting.
