Utah Leads the Nation in "School Choice"

(KCPW News) Utah now has the most comprehensive statewide voucher program in the nation. Governor Jon Huntsman Junior immediately signed the measure when it crossed his desk late yesterday, saying it met the two criteria he required.

First, it does not deplete public school funding because money for vouchers come from a different pot of tax money. And secondly, it benefits lower income students more because the amount of voucher is based on family income. Any student in Utah can now qualify for a tax-funded voucher between five-hundred and three-thousand dollars depending on income to attend a private school. The new voucher program goes into effect during the next school year.
