Mormons Against Romney

Website Opposes Presidential Candidate

Former Massachusetts Governor and now Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is in Utah to raise some money for his run for the White House. Romney is a favorite in the 2008 race for many Utahns because of his faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

But some members of the LDS faith are urging caution in that enthusiasm for Romney. Jason Roberts runs the website and blog "Mormons Against Romney."

Roberts tells KCPW's Bryan Schott that when you get past his faith, Romney's policies and track record do not qualify him for the nation's highest office.

Would Jason Roberts prefer that Romney shun the evangelical right? Would that approach foster understanding between evangelicals and Latter-day Saints? Even if most evangelicals choose not to vote for Romney, Romney's attempts to reach out to them will have at least increased their understanding of the Mormon faith. Why is that such a bad thing as Jason Roberts alleges?

99.9 % of all Mormons support Mitt and I suppose that he will not only get all of the Mormon vote, but because of his conservative traditional values, I feel he will suprise most of the country, when he gets a majority of the Republican vote as well. I most of these liberal polls, democrats compose half or more of those in the survey. It is crazy to distance yourself from Mitt, I suspect that he will pickup majority of the Mormon democrat vote as well

Stephen - Where did you get the data that shows "99.9% of all Mormons support Mitt" other than out of the usual orifice. Mitt has flip-flop on abortion. Mitt has been touted to have Bush's nod, that should do him in for the democrat Mormon vote. Tancredo or Paul stand heads and shoulders above Mitt. As one of your "0.1%", Mitt is thumbs down.

I would agree that not all Mormons support Mitt, but I would argue that most people will decide to vote or not vote for him based more on his track record. Therefore, it should be noted that the US currently has a public debt of over $8.7 Trillion (that's over $29,000 per US citizen). Mitt Romney was able to close a "$3 billion budget gap" while Governor of Massachusetts, moving the states budget into surpluses. He has done much more as Governor, but this merits considerable note when considering the long-term goals of this great country!
