Misperception Causing Problems In Snake Valley Water Rights Negotiations
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) There is a misperception among lawmakers that Utah is negotiating a sale of water rights in Snake Valley, according to Utah Director of Natural Resources Mike Styler.Styler says that perception simply isn't the case and he opposes House Bill 422, which would create an advisory committee to help draft the water rights agreement he is negotiating with Nevada.
Styler says there is confidential information involved in the negotiations and he would not be able to share that information with an advisory committee.
Styler hopes the Senate won't pass the bill. He says the best way to protect water rights in the Snake Valley is to reach an agreement with Nevada, and those negotiations continue.
