Gay Clubs Bill Could Be Gov's First Veto of the Year

(KCPW News) Governor Huntsman's first veto of the year could fall on a bill that empowers school districts to ban gay clubs. Huntsman says he has "flagged" House Bill 236:"I've got some real questions - four or five on this particularly that I want answers to," says Huntsman. "And I'll wait until I get some answers before I make a decision."
Huntsman will meet with the sponsors of the so-called "Gay Clubs Bill" today, but says he may take a few more days to decide how to handle the measure. It's one of several that have his phone lines buzzing with calls for a veto. This week the State School Board added its opposition, asking for a veto because the bill legislates club details they believe should be left to local districts.

It seems our neighbor to the west wishes to make the same mistakes that were made here in Colorado 15 years ago (Amendment 2). Isolating students from positive expression of themselves in a peer setting can have disatrous results. Think Columbine.
