Record Tax Cut Now Official

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) Governor Huntsman signed the state's new tax plan into law today to the applause of dozens of lawmakers, economists and tax advisors. The 220-million dollar cut is the largest in Utah's history and is the result of more than four years of effort by state leaders.

Huntsman says Utah's new five-percent income tax rate and lower sales tax on food make the state more attractive to companies and their workers. The average Utah family will see savings of about $300 a year as a result of the reform, which goes into effect for taxes filed in 2009.
