Aquarium Leaders Go Silent, Hope Furor Will Pass

(KCPW News) The remaining leaders of the Living Planet Aquarium have gone silent after a week of turmoil and the angry departure of most of the nonprofit's board members. Board chair Brad Carroll offered only this prepared statement:"The former directors cite irreconcilable differences among the members of the board as the basis for their decision to resign," says Carroll. "However all involved, including the entire board and staff, believe in the mission and vision of the Living Planet Aquarium and that a newly formulated board of directors will continue to advance the interest of the organization."
Carroll declined further comment in hopes the situation would quote "die down in the media." Past members of the Aquarium's board of directors have been quoted in the press expressing doubt in the management of executive director Brent Andersen. Some reports also suggest the Aquarium has dropped its plans to seek a public bond to build a permanent home for its underwater collection. Carroll would not confirm those plans, but says the Aquarium will have a press conference to bring up new information in about a week.
