Va Tech Shooting Revives Gun Arguments

(KCPW News) Today's shootings that have left 31 dead at Virginia Tech University have brought arguments surrounding gun rights on Utah campuses back to the forefront.The University of Utah recently dropped a lawsuit challenging a State Supreme Court ruling that guns can't be restricted after reaching a compromise with lawmakers. U of U students can request a dorm roommate who does not carry a concealed weapons permit. However, the U is taking notice. University spokesperson Coralie Alder says the school will not politicize today's shootings. Instead the school's safety committee will monitor the Virginia Tech situation to improve their efforts on campus.
Clark Aposhian, Chairman of the Utah Self Defense Instructor's Network, says shootings such as this are preventable. Virginia Law does not allow guns on campus. Aposhian says shootings such as this are bound to happen when people's ability to defend themselves is taken away.
The Associated Press reports 31 people died in today's shootings at Virginia Tech. The gunman also died, however it isn't clear if his death was suicide or if police shot him.

This tragedy should not be politicized, though I do agree if law abiding citizens and students had been allowed to possess firearms on Virginia Campuses, then maybe the shooter would have been stopped much sooner, however we will never know.

The Left has nothing to do with anti gun philosophy u dumb red neck (referring to gunnut). The Second I herd of the Tragedy I (who myself is a Liberal) feared of more anti gun movements...but the thing most un-educated conservatives don't understand is that it's nearly impossible for them to ban guns, its our 2nd amendments right..amendments can't be just thrown out. And If any of the students who became victims was carrying and concealing chances are they could've returned fire and stopped the shooter b4 more causalities are inflicted.
