Utah Employment Rises in March

None by Eric Ray

Construction Field Growing

(KCPW News) Utah's employment rate is once again on the rise and jobs in the construction field are leading that growth. Mark Knold, chief economist for the Department of Workforce Services, says this signals that companies are moving to Utah and are excited about the state's population growth. On top of that, the people moving to Utah need a place to live.

Utah's employment grew by nearly 5% in March, and the unemployment rate is less than 2.5%. Because of this, Knold says the only way all of the new jobs in Utah, more than 53,000 over the past year, can be filled is to keep people moving to the state.

Along with the growth of construction in Utah, business services, retail trade, transportation and manufacturing are also growing.
