Corroon Warns of Earthquake Preparedness

(KCPW News) Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon is waiting for the big one to hit the valley - and he's preparing for it.

During a recent trip to Taiwan, Corroon learned of a major earthquake that hit the city of Nantou. Corroon recently hired a new public safety coordinator to help Salt Lake County prepare for an earthquake, however he says citizens should take it upon themselves to receive Community Emergency Response Training, or CERT, in case of an earthquake. He says the training is vital because people won't be able to rely on the government for several days following a disaster.
