Bennett Wants Health Insurance For All

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Under a new bill being co-sponsored by Utah Republican Senator Bob Bennett, everyone would be required to have health insurance similar to the way drivers must have car insurance.

Bennett reasons this would save money because each individual would have access to preventative care, and it would cut down on expensive emergency room visits by the uninsured.

The bill, called the Healthy Americans Act, gives individuals control of their health insurance policy, and should they change jobs they take the policy with them. The government would step in to help pay for coverage if that money is not offered by an employer.

Bennett spoke about health care reform on the Senate floor this morning. To hear a longer conversation with Senator Bob Bennett, download the podcast of today's Midday Metro program from our website, KCPW-dot-org.
