Skybridge Still Possible in SLC

(KCPW News) Six members of the Salt Lake City Council voted to override a mayoral veto last night and pave the way for a skybridge downtown. KCPW's Julie Rose reports:
The possibility of a skybridge remains in Main Street's future. Six members of the Salt Lake City Council voted to override a mayoral veto last night. The move advances an amendment to the downtown master plan that would allow City Creek Mall developers for the LDS Church to propose a pedestrian bridge connecting stores on either side of Main Street. Developers say the bridge is essential to the mall's success.
Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson says it will doom any hope of vitality on Main Street and ruin the historic nature of the area. Architect and city councilman Soren Simonsen cast the only dissenting vote in the veto override.
City Creek officials say they hope to have skybridge designs ready for city approval mid to late summer.
