BREAKING NEWS: Special Election on Vouchers in November

(KCPW News) Utahns will have a chance to cast their votes for or against public school vouchers this November. Governor Jon Huntsman has issued an executive order converting November's municipal elections into a statewide special election, which will include a referendum on House Bill 148.

A second measure called House Bill 174 may allow vouchers to be implemented before November, but the State Office of Education has opted not to move forward until it obtains further clarification from state officials. Huntsman's executive order eliminates the need for a special legislative session, since the Utah Constitution allows the Governor to call a special election in November without Legislative approval.
