Kids rally in support of vouchers at the Utah State Capitol.

(KCPW News) "Give me choice now!" was the rally cry of hundreds of children and their parents who gathered at a rally in support of school vouchers today. Most of the youth came on buses from private schools around the state. Greg Miller, administrator for Layton Christian Academy, brought a busload of students to wave signs and chant for school choice. School vouchers would benefit his school, but he says mostly it would allow more students to attend the right school for their needs - regardless of cost:

"We're a little smaller. We teach from a Biblical perspective each day and a lot of kids do very well at our school," says Miller. "We think we need strong private schools, public schools and charter schools."

The State School Board was to have implemented vouchers today, but opted to delay because of a pending voter referendum. The Utah Attorney General sent a strongly-worded letter to the State School Board yesterday, saying it is quote "incumbent upon the Board to implement the voucher program immediately."
