Lawmakers Seeking More Facts on Payday Lending

(KCPW News) Payday lending was the topic of a lengthy debate on Utah's Capitol Hill yesterday. A Committee of lawmakers spent hours attempting to navigate the rocky terrain between the payday loan industry and the citizen advocates who strict regulations imposed. They didn't make much progress, as KCPW's Julie Rose reports:

A fairly balanced story here, but it points up the importance of lawmakers doing their homework and understanding how good, solid legislation in 37 states establishes consumer protections while preserving credit choices.
