Hatch Says Progress Is Being Made In Iraq

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch visited Iraq late last week and returned with a glowing review of the progress being made by U.S. Troops. Hatch says unlike a year ago, he was able to walk through the streets of Ramadi, visiting with Iraqi shopkeepers and children along the way. He says residents of the city are cooperating with the military, which show signs they feel safe.

Hatch says General David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker are working well together to implement Petraeus' new strategies to defeat the insurgency and says the changes made over the last year in Iraq are substantial.

Despite the progress report, Hatch says the war won't soon be over. He says it's important to pass supplemental funding for the war in Iraq immediately without too many conditions attached.
