More Bike Lanes and Racks for SLC Cyclists

(KCPW News) Salt Lake City will add dozens of new bike lanes for two-wheel commuters this summer, along with at least 20 new bike racks adorned with local art. Mayor Rocky Anderson hopes the additions will entice would-be bike commuters anxious about safety and the frequent bike-car accidents that occur on city streets.Ultimately, Anderson would like to see segregated bike lanes, just as pedestrians have their own sidewalks for safety. He says that's part of the long-term master plan for city streets.
This summer the city will add bike lanes on Beck Street and 300 West for cycle commuters between Salt Lake and North Salt Lake. Shoulder striping and wider bike lanes will also emerge on major roads connecting Sugar House and downtown.
The city is working with UTA to add bike lockers at most of the downtown TRAX stations and create a bike transit center offering rentals, maintenance and storage at the Intermodal Hub beginning next spring.

Great! Now let's REALLY do something progressive and enact a "Complete Streets" ordinance.

100% of able bodied Utahans who live within 3 miles of where they work should ride their bike. It can drop 10% for every mile... or something like that. It will be possible! Come on Davis County-ites... join me!!! Thanks Rocky.
