Former Jazz Player Says Life Hasn't Changed Much Since Coming Out of the Closet
(KCPW News) Former Utah Jazz NBA star John Amaechi used to play basketball, now he works to promote acceptance and equality for all - regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. He's in town this weekend to serve as Grand Marshall for the 2007 United for Equality, Utah Pride Festival. Amaechi told KCPW's Lara Jones that life hasn't changed much since he came out of the closet in his autobiography, Man in the Middle, released earlier this year:(4:42)
John Amaechi played for the Utah Jazz from 2001 to 2003, and he is the first member of the NBA to openly identify himself as gay. To hear a longer conversation with Amaechi, download a podcast of today's Midday Metro.
