RSL Donation for Youth Sports Complex is Pending

Still Working Out "Technical Details"

(KCPW News) Yesterday was the deadline ReAL Salt Lake owner Dave Checketts set for his seven-point-five million dollar donation to a youth sports complex in Salt Lake City. But RSL missed that deadline because they are still working out "technical difficulties" with the city.

Mayor's spokesman Patrick Thronson will not elaborate on the nature of those technical details. In his last statement on the matter, Dave Checketts said he was washing his hands of the project and would donate the money, but would not be involved in the details of the sport complex because he no longer believed it would be "first class."

Thronson says the city is still confident it will get the money. A joint statement from RSL and Salt Lake City confirms the team has obtained a letter of credit for the money from Zion's Bank and both parties fully expect the process to be completed within the next few days.
