Teachers Oppose Split of Granite and Jordan Districts
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) Teachers from the Jordan and Granite School Districts appear to be against proposals to split those districts. Educators from both sides are concerned about what a split would mean to salary structure and benefits, as well as unique student programs.Jay Blain, President of the Granite Education Association, likens the splitting of the districts to a "bad divorce" and says his association will encourage the city councils its district to not put the measure on November's ballot. That sentiment is mirrored by teachers in the Jordan School District, according to Robin Frodge, President of the Jordan Education Association.
City councils are expected to decide in late July whether or not to place the issue on November's ballot. To listen to a conversation about the feelings of teachers in the Granite and Jordan School Districts, download the podcast of today's Midday Metro from www.KCPW.org.
