Murray School District to Go Green
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) The Murray School District hopes to save $1.7 million in energy costs over the next seven years after entering into a new energy savings program. The district has contracted with Energy Education Inc., a company that helps public school districts make those changes.Dr. Pat O'Hara, Director of Support Services for the Murray City School District, says they hope to save the most money on electricity and natural gas. The money to start the program is coming from the district's maintenance fund.
The money saved will be reinvested into the district's teachers and custodians who, in large part, will be responsible for execution of the program. The program will also be used as an opportunity to educate children about the importance of energy conservation.
